Car Insurance Nissan (Car Insurance). My catalytic converter was stolen off my 1995 oldsmobile silhouette.?My catalytic converter was stolen off my 1995 oldsmobile silhouette.? I live in a good part of town that gangs travel to so they can steal cars. My van was missing 3 days before my grandmother found it in the ghetto. It was damaged and i dont have a good job or much money. I had enough to fix the damages but not enough for another converter so I used a straight pipe. Would I get in trouble if i can afford a new one, let alone run the risk of them stealing it again? well as far as I know, you are ok,as long as you the owner changed this you wont get in trouble unless your state has emission checks. It is against the law for a mechanic, or shop to do this, but not you Auto parts : Headlight Adjuster Acura 1995 . Young drivers what do you think? I am a young driver and i have been worried and concerned for new drivers. First off, about 2 years ago someone from my school was killed in a car accident, who just earnt his driving licence (Only 17). Then, not so long after, a family member suffered depression because his friend was killed in a car accident (young driver at the wheel). I also remember after my grandmother passing, there was a grave of this girl, probably about 18 or so, My mum told me she died in a car with a drunk driver, and then there is more and more in the newspapers. Its all so sad, whole lives ahead of them and it ends like that. I am a new driver and i would say i am a considerate driver, and im never nervous when i drive. Anyone who drives with me will have to wear a seatbelt, i have also drilled it into my head that a car is a lethal weapon if not used properly. Im not a boy racer at all. So my question is : 1. Young drivers - What do you think? What is your attitude to driving? 2. Would it be wrong saying a young driver who has just passed their test is at more risk than a middle aged person who has just passed their test? 3. Do you think the driving age should be raised? Nissan . How to Repair a Chip in a Plastic BumperBody work on an automobile can be costly. A small chip or crack in the bumper of your car may not affect the way it drives, but it doesn't do much for the aesthetics. You can avoid costly repairs and keep your car free of those unsightly dings by doing minor repair work yourself. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Putty or filler Putty knife Mesh reinforcement 80-grit Sandpaper Paint or finish Step by Step : 1 Use 80-grit sandpaper to smooth the damaged area. Make sure all rough spots are removed, especially around the chipped area. Sand about an inch and a half diameter around the actual damaged area. 2 Place filler putty material into the chipped area. Make sure the chip is filled and level. Do not allow any of the filler to flow outside the chipped area. Run your finger over the area to ensure the putty filler is flush. Allow the filler ample time to harden before you continue to the next step. 3 Cut a piece of mesh reinforcement that extends about an inch beyond the damaged area of your bumper on all sides. Place the mesh reinforcement over the damaged area, and use a clear adhesive to secure it over the damage. Use a small brush to apply the adhesive. Allow the adhesive time to dry before proceeding. 4 Apply repair material over the mesh reinforcement covering. Don't worry about applying too much at this point. It will be sanded down later. Spread the repair material evenly with putty knife. Push the repair material down into the damaged area as you spread it around, making sure to compact the repair material into the damaged area of the bumper. 5 Sand the repaired area until it is completely smooth. Run your hand lightly over it to ensure there are no imperfections. Use 80-grit sandpaper to accomplish this. Avoid power sanders unless you know how to use them well. Oversanding at this point is easy to do and will hinder your repairs. 6 Paint the repaired area of your bumper. Match the paint by consulting your car dealer and finding out what the name of the color is on your car, and if the dealer has some available for purchase. If you have no success finding the exact paint, you might want to take a picture of your car to an experienced paint supply store to see if the staff can blend paint to get the color you need. Nissan . How to Fix a Rock Chip on a Car WindshieldA small rock kicked up by a passing truck can damage your windshield, taking a big chip out of it. Over time, this chip will usually spider out with cracks until your whole windshield is ruined and needs to be replaced. If you are quick about it, however, you may be able to fix the chip before it gets any worse. A good windshield repair job looks almost just like new. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Windshield repair kit Acetone Clean rag Razor blade Step by Step : 1 Make sure you are only dealing with a rock chip. A running crack is nearly impossible to fix with a rock chip repair kit. You can try, but you will probably end up having to replace your windshield anyway. Do the repair as quickly as possible, since a chip can become a running crack. 2 Get a windshield repair kit such as the one linked to below. You can order DIY windshield repair kits or buy them at auto parts stores. 3 Park your car inside on a dry day. You don't want to do this repair when it is humid or really cold. Clean the crack out with a little bit of acetone on a clean cloth. Be careful, since acetone will remove your car's paint. 4 Use the corner of a razor blade to scrape out any loose pieces of glass or dirt. Acetone will get grime out of the crack, but there may still be pebbles or small chips of glass in there. 5 Attach the repair alignment tool so that it is directly above the crack. In most kits, there are 4 suction cups with a threaded hole in between them. You want this threaded hole directly above the chip. 6 Screw the repair tube tightly into the alignment tool. The repair tube is a small, threaded tube with a rubber tip. Get inside the car and make sure that it is pressed against the rock chip. If it isn't, unscrew it and move the alignment tool to the right place. 7 Put two drops of resin into the repair tube (or however many the instructions say) and quickly screw the plunger down as tightly as you can. Once you have tightened it, loosen it halfway for a few seconds to let any air bubbles escape, then tighten it again. Let it sit for about a minute, then remove the whole alignment tool. 8 Carefully lay the finishing film on top of the repair. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes and remove it. 9 Use the razor blade to scrape off any bumps in the resin. The chip should be almost invisible. Tips & Warnings Some kits use different kinds of resin with different drying times. If your repair kit comes with different directions than this article, follow the kit. If you don't put in enough resin the first time, you will see a dent in the crack when you take of the alignment tool. Put it back on and add a few more drops of resin.
